The Ellman Gallery
home of the work of Lyn Ellman
Born in 1928, Lyn Ellman spent much of her 94 years exploring her creativity and crafting art across many mediums and subjects near and dear to her heart. Having passed away in 2023, the Ellman Gallery was created to allow more people than ever before the opportunity to discover, own, and display her work.
An activist, much of her artwork covers subjects that were unpopular and unconventional for her time: same sex relationships, black and brown bodies, disillusionment, protest, and civil unrest. These works were informed both by her time spent in minority communities in New York and Miami as well as her lived experiences as a socially conscious artist, progressive, mother to Lisa Wolff, and grandmother to Zach, Jesse, and Ethan Kotel.
Other pieces centered on her deep love of nature and the colors and grandeur that come with it. Exploring vibrant and vivid colors of forests, beaches, and mountains, these works speak to the inherent awe inspired by natural landscapes.
